Wednesday, August 27th

Last night, Ava and I went to Color Me Mine to make something special for Papa. Ava chose a Football Cup because in her words, "Papa loves football and it will help him feel better and bring him home to Mimi."

We were really excited that he was able to get in a wheelchair today and go down to the Plaza Level so that Ava and Giuliana could come visit. It has been weeks since they have gotten to see their Papa and they couldn't wait. It was a very happy reunion.

Overall, he is talking a lot more and maintaining conversations. Being stuck in the hospital is not easy for someone like our dad who likes to be in control at all times, so he is easily frustrated and can't wait to get out. It is important to note that he has overstimulation precautions, so this flyer is posted on his door. Just please be aware if you are visiting him that it can be overwhelming and we want to keep it as calm as possible.

Thank you to everyone for the ongoing support!

  1. Dear Marvin & Markowitz family,

As you know, your dear friend, my wife, Gina was in a horrible head on collision a little over two months ago. Immediately after the accident I never thought I would see her walk again because she was in such pain as a result of breaking 15 bones. A dear friend of ours, who had been in a similar accident, told us that she would get better a little bit each day, but it would be a slow process and we must be patient.

Tonight, even though she is still wearing her halo neck brace, Gina and I went to dinner and a movie, and after the movie she insisted on going back to the rehab center, which was just around the corner, to say hello to her nurses. Six weeks ago she still couldn’t walk out of her room and tonight she walked into the hospital on her own, got to the elevator, and went up to the nurses station to say hello.

We know and trust that Marvin will get better Treat each baby step as a major accomplishment because time passes quickly, and before you know it, the combination of those small accomplishments will equate to something absolutely astounding. I didn’t trust my friends words of wisdom at the outset, but now I know them to be completely true and hope that you will trust in them as well. I love you Marvin and I am wishing only the best for you. Hang in there. Keep drinking those milkshakes.
